Game Station Arcade
Okay, we all have been writing our views on the Game Station Arcade. I had first heard rumors of this thing from former programmer Jon Valesh, then I actually saw a few pictures of this console on JC Pennies' website. I learn of this thing around the Christmas time frame, I decided to wait and hope I get this for Christmas.
On Christmas Day I receive this thing as well as many other fine gifts I may add. Excited, I look over the box before opening my other gifts. Sure enough this NES clone contained the 15 different Color Dreams games; Baby Boomer, Captain Comic, Challenge of the Dragon, Crystal Mines, Galactic Crusader, King Neptune's Adventure, Master Chu, Menace Beach, Pester Minator, Raid 2020, Robodenons, Secret Scout, The Pradikus Conflict, Moon Ranger, and Operation Secret Storm. I finally open the box up, and I notice even more spelling errors on the game description list. I look to the manual to hook the console up to the TV, but it takes several tries until I figure out how to do so. After all, the instructions are worth as much as a phony three dollar bill.
I finally get the machine up and running. I'm greeted to a weird title screen, the music is really really weird. At the top it displays the words Rumble Station instead of Game Station Arcade, something is fishy here. I leave it drop at that, time to play some Color Dreams games. The picture is crystal clear, but the sound...oh my!
After about 5 minutes of play with this thing, the sound fades down really low and it is mostly covered up with some horrible static. Okay, so that is a little disappointing, but at least I can still play the games. Another complaint I have with this console thing is that there is no way I can hook up a zapper to it. Sure this doesn't affect most games, but I really do think I could do better at Baby Boomer using a light gun, a lot more fun too.
Overall the Game Station Arcade is a good console of Color Dreams games. For us NES collectors, you'll be entertained for hours with this thing. For gamers, well maybe you shouldn't buy this thing, since when did Color Dreams games become Arcade Classics anyways? Interesting NES clone though, perfectly approved by Color Dreams themselves, also doesn't infringe on Nintendo's patents either.
