Hellraiser....The Movie!
I had a slight interest in watching the Hellraiser movies after researching the unreleased Color Dreams game, Hellraiser. I finally got my chance to watch the movie in June, 2005. I was shopping with my girlfriend, and by chance, we stepped into a thrift shop. I was able to snag the movie for a mere $0.99. A week later I made time to watch the movie.
Hellraiser starts out by showing a family moving into a new house. Larry Cotton and his wife Julia move into the house once occupied by Larry's brother Frank Cotton. Frank Cotton was a ne'er-do-well who obtained a magic golden box at a bazaar. Using this magic box, Frank was able to seek human desires and pains. Unfortunately for Frank, he ended up unleashing some demon spirits which ended up dismembering Frank.
While moving into the house, Larry ends up cutting himself. Blood gushes from Larry's wound, and it is absorbed by Frank, who is living under the floor in the house. Frank comes to Julia and tells her that he needs help. Blood will allow Frank to fully restore himself to normal. Julia likes the idea of this, since she was previously involved in an affair with Frank.
Over a short period of time, Julia seduces and lures unsuspecting men into the house. When the men start preparing for sex, Julia kills the men. Frank uses the blood as a source to replenish himself. Eventually, Frank kills Larry and uses Larry's body as a disguise. Kirsty (Larry's daughter) is initially fooled by Frank's disguise, but soon discovers that Frank is in Larry's body. In a struggle, Frank accidentally kills his lover Julia. Kirsty obtains the magic cube and unleashes the Cenobite demons. The demons drag Frank back to the depths of Hell, and Kirsty barely manages to escape the grasp of the demons.
The story closes with Kirsty and her boyfriend running out of the house, as the house goes up in flames. The magic box is stolen by a mysterious man.
I am not a huge fan of horror flicks. For the most part, I find them stupid (and I don't get scared either). I wanted to get an idea of how the Hellraiser Nintendo game might have been.that's why I bought the movie. Hellraiser is not scary, it is disturbing. I really can't recommend this movie, however I do want to see the rest of the series.if I can obtain them for a cheap price. I would rate this movie a 2.7/5.
