P'radikus Conflict ---Color Dreams

"Many years ago the planet P'radikus was visited by a peaceful, highly advanced race of people known as the Lextorians. What they encountered when exiting their starship forever changed the course of history for the entire galaxy. P'radikus was inhabited by numerous uncivilized tribes constantly at war with one another. Endless combats had kept them from any technological advancement for thousands of years. Since the Lexatorians believed only in peace and not war, they refused to put up a fight and were soon exterminated.

Although the natives of P'radikus were warlike and uncivilized, in time they figured out how to fly the starship and began to expand their war throughout the galaxy. They brutally attacked and plundered every world they came in contact with. Through violence and enslavement, they were able to steal some of the most advanced technology in the galaxy.

Like wildfire, the P'radikus empire continued to spread and it is only a matter of time before they reach our world. Facing this impending encounter, the elders have been training you since childhood for only one specific task: rid the galaxy of the P'radikus dominance once and for all. With your mental and physical skills honed to perfection, you and your starship are now as one. YOU must attack their many outposts and destroy their home planet. It is up to you"

With that said, P'radikus Conflict is not as exciting as it sounds. The story puts you in the shoes of a Luke Skywalker-ish hero and behind the controls of a powerful space cruiser. P'radikus Conflict is not like Star Wars in any way, it is not nearly as exciting or action packed. The game tries to be good, it fails miserably.

P'radikus Conflict is a boring space game comprised of several missions. After each mission you return to the space station to collect details about the remaining missions. After completing all of the missions you are put to the test against the final enemy. Some missions are more exciting than others. The first mission, for instance, is for you to hang around the space station shooting enemy space ships. Your goal: collect enough money to upgrade your shields and weapons to the next level.

Other missions are slightly more exciting. A good example would be mission two. Your goal is to go to the enemy space station located at sector [5, 3] and destroy it. After a long treck across the various sectors, you arrive battle worn and tired. Destroying the space station takes persistence, though it is semi-entertaining.

I have several beefs with P'radikus Conflict. Music is non-existant. Conflict features some mediocre sound effects, but there isn't much actual music. How dumb is that? My other complaint is the difficulty level. Some of the missions are too easy, others are too hard. There never seems to be a happy medium. This factor forces an already average game to become very tedious and boring.

I would stay clear of this one. Operation Secret Storm, Free Fall, and Menace Beach can be fun, P'radikus cannot. This would have fit better under the 'Bunch Games' title, sorry Color Dreams.
