Operation Wolf --- Famicom
Today I had received three different Famicom cartridges in the mail, Operation Wolf, Super Mario Bros. 3, and Tetris. I liked the Nintendo Operation Wolf game; until today I didn't play it for months though. I believe that my Operation Wolf cart may be a pirate...the Knack Explaination? Either way, the game is the Japanese Operation Wolf; very different from the US version of Operation Wolf.
The first distinctive change I noticed about this Operation Wolf is that the game was manufactured by Mirc, not Taito. The text of the game is in complete Japanese too. The biggest change I noticed would be when I selected my stage...
Being able to select your missions is a thing unique to the Famicom Operation Wolf game, in the U.S. game you have to play the stages in order. Even stranger, the Famicom Operation Wolf game appears to have four stages to play through unlike the U.S. game which has six stages. I wonder why the Famicom game has less stages...
Another possible difference between the Operation Wolf games is that the Japanese game has a few women wearing bikinis that run out into the open fire. I *do not* think that these women appear in the U.S. game, atleast not for aslong as I've played today :)
Anyway, it seems that atlast the United States ended up getting the better Operation Wolf game. As gameplay goes, I enjoy the game for it's a war game that you can use the zapper (or control pad) to play. Very nice. Two extra stages seems better than a few girls in bikinis, though I'm sure some of you would disagree. Heh.
