Say That Again
Throughout my travels, I have stumbled upon many Nintendo games translated into the various European languages. The page below covers just a few of these titles. If you have any more pictures/information, feel free to email me :)
Asterix --- Infogrames
Asterix was one of several Infogrames games sporting a language select. 5 languages are available to choose from, including English, German, and French.
Bible Adventures --- Wisdom Tree
Unlike the other releases on this page, this one was probably done for the Mexican population, though it could have easily made it over to Spain. Color Dreams had hired a few translators to translate instruction manuals into different languages. At one point they considered doing Spanish releases of their bible games, though they were eventually canned. (screenshots unavailable).
Deja Vu --- Kemco/Seika
Deja Vu would be the second (and last) title of Kemco/Seika to be translated into Swedish. The first game to be translated was Shadowgate. Although I do not read Swedish, many people have told me that the translation is horrendous. The third game in the series, Uninvited, was never translated. Maybe there just wasn't a market for it. Die Schlumpfe --- Infogrames
Our lovable little Smurfs stared in their own European Nintendo game, released in Germany, France, and England. As with the other Infogrames games, language selection is available. The choices are English, German, Spanish, and French. There really wasn't much text to translate, just the level names and story screens. Smurf it!
Duck Tales 2 --- Capcom
Duck Tales 2 was translated into French. This seems quite silly to me, the game didn't have that much text. To make things even funnier, I don't think that its prequel Duck Tales was translated into French. Duh! (screenshots unavailable).
F-15 Strike Eagle --- Microprose
Microprose had released two different multi-language versions of their F-15 Strike Eagle game. One cart contained Norwegian, Swedish, and Danish translations, while the other release contained Dutch, English, and French translations. I've heard that little of the text was translated. Kirby's Adventure --- Nintendo
Kirby's Adventure saw different text with both French and German versions. When Nintendo of Europe was formed, they decided that it would be smart to release a few of their games in different languages. Kirby's Adventure, being a popular game, would be an obvious choice. Prince of Persia --- Mindscape
Prince of Persia was translated into both French and German, though there was very little to translate. Even funnier, some of the text in this game wasn't even translated! (screenshots unavailable).
Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves --- Mindscape
Mindscape (as opposed to Virgin) released Robin Hood over in Europe. Time was taken to translate all of the text into the German language (Prince of Thieves is a semi-RPG so yes there is lots of text). Not sure how good the translation is, but I sure love this title.
Shadowgate --- Kemco/Seika
The first of Kemco's translated titles, also the more popular of the two games. As with Deja Vu, the translation into Swedish was terrible. A funny thing to mention, when Shadowgate was remade on Gameboy Color, it featured a language select. Guess what language was an option: Swedish :) I have recently been informed that both French and German translations of Shadowgate was also available. Pictures thanks to The Shadowgate Lands.
 
Swords & Serpents --- Acclaim
Acclaim's Shadowgate knockoff, Swords & Serpents, was translated for a French release. Considering the great amount of text in this game, I sure hope they had better translators then the ones Kemco/Seika hired. (Screenshots Unavailable).
