Cobra Triangle --- Nintendo/Rare

Many say Cobra Triangle is often debated as the, or at least one of the hardest games of all time. I personally don’t think so, because I have beat it, however it was still painfully difficult as I remember when I won it in 1996, one hell of a ride until I finally won. There actually isn’t that much to the game, it is a boat game that takes place in the near future (I think). Perhaps you are a Neo-Coast Guard, I’m not sure, I’ve never read the manual…. The point is that you have to complete a ton of Missions to save the world, beat all the horrible bosses for the sake of mankind. Only you can do it.

After the first few Missions, the game gets boring. Saving drowning people from the clutches of evil boats and all that, disposing of mines… You get the idea. Then, finally there is a boss fight to stir things up, the first boss? A giant water-dragon. That’s right the one in the title, on the front of the box and on the label of the cartridge. After that the game becomes painstakingly difficult.

You control, or at least try to, a red speed-boat which also has a helicopter rotor so it can fly from stage to stage. It’s very interesting, because you wouldn’t think you could point the tip of a boat with a rotor and actually fly in that direction. It’s also not economically wise, however that’s a completely different topic!

There are vary many Missions all ranging in difficulty but only around 5? main themes/objectives. As for the bosses, I can remember there are crabs, water-dragons, squids and at the end, if I remember correctly the last boss is a red water-dragon.

Pretty good graphics, original gameplay and painfully hard Missions make this game a real bitch to beat, but a treat to win.

I give it a 7.3/10.

Bad points: No Cinematics, Too friggin Hard (to each their own)
