Unlicensed game companies had trouble selling their games to stores, so they would run small advertisements in videogame magazines. Above are three different Color Dreams adverts which have been circulating around the web.
Advert #1 advertises four different Nintendo games, two of which are unreleased. The games advertised are (from left to right) Hellraiser, King Neptune's Adventure, Challenge of the Dragon, and Happy Camper. You can also see programmer Mike Hunley in the background advertising Color Dreams' Play For Cash contest.
Advert #2 is geared at advertising the elusive Hellraiser Nintendo game. The other games advertised (all unreleased) include Starblade, Targhan, and Happy Camper.
Advert #3 was found in the back of a Nintendo strategy guide, Ultimate Unauthorized Nintendo Game Strategies Volume 2. The advert is for a free copy of Captain Comic for the Nintendo.
Advert #4 displays seven of Wisdom Tree's PC titles. Three of these were released on Nintendo and Sega Genesis: Bible Adventures, Exodus, and Joshua.
Advert #5 shows off a few more Wisdom Tree PC titles and the NIV Bible for Gameboy.
Advert #6 displays Bible Wonders, a PC game to "Challenge Your Biblical Knowledge."
Advert #7 was taken from the back of the Wisdom Tree book, A King Is Born.
Advert #8 was taken from the back of the Wisdom Tree book, Noah's Great Adventure.
Special thanks to Jon Valesh, Digital Press, Royal Ranger, and Andrew Krieg.
