NES Bands

Title: Advantage Band

Website: Here

Thoughts:
The Advantage Band is one of the first NES Bands that I heard of. I enjoyed most of the music I heard from these guys. Some of the songs that they play are from the following games: Double Dragon, Mega Man 2 and Metroid.

Title: Minibosses

Website: Here

Thoughts:
The Minibosses is another popular NES Band that I've listened too. The Minibosses perform songs from popular Nintendo series such as Ninja Gaiden, Castlevania and Mega Man 2. My favorite song of theirs is the Mega Man 2 medley.

Title: CarboHydroM

Website: Here

Thoughts:
CarboHydroM released several different game tunes, as of today. Some of the tunes are from older games, while others are from the newer games such as Duke Nukem. Since the site uses ogg files, I was unable to listen to any of the samples.

Title: Ryan8bit

Website: Here

Thoughts:
Ryan8Bit has many Nintendo songs released, from a variety of classic games. Ryan8bit's newest work is a Castlevania CD, which you can grab from The Castlevania Dungeon.

Title: NESkimos

Website: Here

Thoughts:
Where can I start with these guys? I love some of the rock tunes that the NESkimos play. NESkimos also play a lot of heavy metal music. The NESkimos have quite a few songs to download, so one is sure to find something that they like.

Title: Select Start

Website: Here

Thoughts:
Select Start doesn't seem to have many songs for download, however they have a really good rendition of Kraid's Hideout from Metroid. Be warned though, some of the pictures on the Select Start website are a bit disturbing.

Title: Parasprinter

Website: Here

Thoughts:
I was only able to listen to three different samples that The Parasrinters made: a tune from Nina Gaiden II, "The Moon" from Duck Tales and "Evergreen" from Castlevania III. I really enjoyed all three songs, and hope to hear some more tunes from this band soon.

Title: Eric's Little Shack

Website: Here

Thoughts:
Eric's Little Shack is a small band formed by Eric and his friend Bobby. Eric's Little Shack's Nintendo music was inspired by The Minibosses. So far, they have music from a variety of games including Mega Man 2,3,5, Final Fantasy VI, Castlevania, and Zelda II. Eric's Little Shack also recorded a few tunes from other sources, such as "Castle on a Cloud" from Les Miserables.

Title: Metroid Metal

Website: Here

Thoughts:
Metroid Metal is an awesome band/site containing the whole original Metroid soundtrack, converted over to heavy metal. Totally awesome stuff, must download all of the songs...

Title: Ice-Climbers

Website: Here

Thoughts:
Coming all the way from Sweden are the Ice-Climbers, another Nintendo-dedicated band. The Ice-Climbers play a variety of tunes from games such as Mega Man, Castlevania, Super Mario Bros. and Little Nemo. My favorite piece they did is probably the Elec Man tune from the original Mega Man.

Title: Ashane

Website: Here

Thoughts:
Ashane does not have too much NES music, however they have music from Castlevania II and Castlevania III. I really love the rendition of the mansion theme from Castlevania II...the introduction is great.

Title: OneUp Studios

Website: Here

Thoughts:
OneUp Studios has some awesome music available for download. There is music from different game consoles...NES, SNES, and so forth. I really liked OneUp Studio's Bloody Hell (a version of Bloody Tears from Castlevania II). I also enjoyed the tune Terra in Black (from Final Fantasy VI on SNES...).

Title: Zoast

Website: Here

Thoughts:
Zoast has rearranged and produced songs from many NES games. The one complaint I have (besides the fact that most of the songs are demos...which doesn't matter since they still sound nice) is the fact that several of the songs aren't available for download :(

Title: 8-Bit Weapon

Website: Here

Thoughts: Inspired by classic videogame soundtracks and electronic music from the 70s and 80s, 8 Bit Weapon delivers a sound that is as unique as it is original. Clever melodies, nostalgic atmosphere, and energetic beats create a decidedly modern sound while maintaining a fun, lo-tech aesthetic.
