Wide Boy

Everyone has heard of the Super Gameboy. Did you know that Camerica and Biederman Design Labs teamed up in 1991 to make an adapter to play Gameboy games on the NES? Even if you did hear of this unreleased peripheral did you ever hear of the Wide Boy? Prepare to be amazed...

The Wide Boy is an interesting device that does the same job as a Super Gameboy. Use the Gameboy game in the Wide Boy, which is plugged into a Famicom. The Gameboy game is then playable on the normal TV.

Wide Boys were sold to magazine companies for the use of taking screenshots for magazines. Due to low distribution and high costs (back in the day), the Wide Boy is now worth a pretty penny. A pair of Wide Boy units was sold on Ebay a few weeks ago for around $400.

Overall, the Wide Boy is one of the more interesting peripherals to surface. However, since many of us cannot afford these suckers, we might as well stick with our trusty old Super Gameboys :)
