Stakk'm --- American Video Entertainment --- 1992

American Video Entertainment had received dozens of games from companies who were looking for publishers. Some of the better games such as Tiles of Fate and Dudes with Attitude had been released. Others such as Little Red Hood and Penguin and Seal were considered though turned down. American Video Entertainment had almost published Stakk'm for the Nintendo. Stakk'm was advertised in manuals and adverts. Hell, it even appeared in AVE's Maxivision 15 multi game cartridge. So why wasn't Stakk'm released as a single?

Unfortunately, I am not certain as to why Stakk'm wasn't released on a single game as it had been originally planned. On another note, a prototype of Stakk'm had found its way into collectors hands. This single version of Stakk'm appears to be the same as the version of Stakk'm which appears on the Maxivision cartridge --- this really isn't much of a surprise.

One of the neater things about the Stakk'm prototype which turned up was the one sticker which covered the rom chip. It reads "Poke.chr". Stakk'm was originally titled Poke Block. This explains the word written on the label.

To be honest with you, I'm really not too interested in the game Stakk'm. The game is just a (semi) boring puzzler which tries to be Tetris or Columns...however it doesn't quite compare. On the other hand, this is a prototype of an unreleased Nintendo game that we have here...and I am always glad when something like this turns up :)

Special thanks to Ickdoggit.
