Nintendo Controller --- Pelican

Now, it seems quite rare to find anything good at Funcoland. I remember back a few years ago, they had every NES game you could possibly want. Now, you're out of luck, unless you want the next generation games.

Although the quality of Funcoland has seemed to have gone down in the last few months, I continue to go. Thus my story begins with this.

I began burrowing through the bin of old NES stuff, mainly zappers, the orange variation. I had also seen a few controllers in boxes; they looked like SNES controllers. I decided to pick one up just to look at it.

As I pull the box into eye site, I realize that I've made a small mistake. It turns out to be a NES (!) controller. I look over the box and it seems that Pelican, the company that manufactured the Game Station Arcade put out a unlicensed, but perfectly legal, NES controller as well. I'm speculating that this puppy was put out in either 2000 or 2001, I've never seen it before.

Considering that most of my NES controllers are shot, this baby works quite well. The NES controller has all of the normal functions plus two new features, Turbo A and B buttons.

So, do you have any complaints about the Pelican NES controller? Yes I do. The cord is way too short and the plug fits into the control deck a little too snug for comfort. This makes removing the controller a bigger task than it needs to be. Looking past these two flaws, the NES controller by Pelican is quite amazing. For a low retail value of $4.95 US, you shouldn't miss the opportunity to own one of these.
