Laser Scope --- Konami

Nintendo weren't the only ones to design weird peripherals, Konami had their share of weird controllers as well. Konami's weirdest controller was a zapper named the Laser Scope. The Laser Scope was manufactured specifically for their one game, Laser Invasion (included $5 coupon for LS), though it will work on any Nintendo zapper game.

The Laser Scope is a helmet you wear on your head---I can guarantee that I won't buy one of these suckers used. With my luck it would have belonged to someone who had head lice :(

Features of the Laser Scope include a cross hair that is placed over your eye and a mouthpiece. To fire while using the Laser Scope, you have to speak into the mouthpiece and then well, you obviously fire.

I have heard numerous accounts of Konami's Laser Scope being very accurate as far as light guns are concerned, though I seriously doubt it. If I can recall, the Power Glove was supposed to be such a great peripheral; it fell flat on its face. I suspect that this is the same with the Laser Scope.

Another question I have with the Laser Scope is did it come in various sizes? I know several people with extremely large heads, I doubt that they would be able to cram a Laser Scope on top of it. Hmm...

Every company has to make decisions about new products, and I guess Konami thought that their Laser Scope would be a good idea. It was certainly interesting, though it could not have been very practical. Personally I would just stick with the original Nintendo zapper or Camerica's westernish Power Blaster.
