Back around 2000 I had been browsing through the J. C. Pennies Christmas catalogue. Naturally, I thumbed through the electronics section. At first I didn't see anything too exciting, but when I looked again, I saw an image of a kid playing Crystal Mines! The device he was using was a Game Station Arcade. I knew that I had to have one, and by Christmas I did.

The Game Station Arcade is a game system built into a Dreamcast-like controller. 15 different Color Dreams games are built into the controller. Following is a list of titles:

  • Baby Boomer
  • Captain Comic
  • Challenge of the Dragon
  • Crystal Mines
  • Galactic Crusader
  • King Neptune's Adventure
  • Master Chu & the Drunkard Hu
  • Menace Beach
  • Moon Ranger
  • Operation Secret Storm
  • P'Radikus Conflict
  • Pesterminator
  • Raid 2020
  • Robodemons
  • Secret Scout

Overall, I felt that the unit wasn't made very durable. After a couple months of enjoyment, my GSA started overheating and it doesn't work at all by now :( Another beef I had was that some of the better games weren't included. For an example, Castle of Deceit should have been included instead of Galactic Crusader. It would have also been nice to see a compilation including some unreleased Color Dreams games (Happy Camper anyone) but I guess we can't have it all. On a positive note, the Game Station Arcade is still a nice little unit for the price ($30).
